Problem:
If you stop using a ReliaSoft desktop application with a ReliaSoft-hosted license on a computer without first deactivating the software, and then you try to activate it on a new computer, you may receive this message: "The maximum number of times this product may be activated has been reached. Please contact ReliaSoft Support for assistance."
Solution:
If you do not deactivate an application for your user account on a computer, the ReliaSoft license server assumes the application will still be used by you on that computer. Thus, since most ReliaSoft licenses place a limit on the number of computers that are allowed to run an application, failing to deactivate the software on an old computer may prevent you from being able to run it on a new computer.
If you receive this message and still have access to the old computer that you no longer use the application on, you can follow these steps activate the software on the new computer:
Deactivate the software on the old computer.
If no one will be using the ReliaSoft desktop applications on the old computer, you can uninstall the suite (e.g., ReliaSoft 2022, Synthesis 11, etc.), which will automatically deactivate all ReliaSoft desktop applications for all users on that computer.
If you wish to deactivate specific applications for your user account only, follow these steps:
With the application open, choose File > Help and click the License Manager link.
You will be prompted to enter your password but this is not required for the purposes of deactivation. You can click Cancel to proceed without it.
In the License Manager, click the Deactivate button in the center of the License Manager window. You will be prompted to confirm. When you do, the application will immediately close and you will not be able to run it on this computer without activating again
Open the software on the new computer and try to activate it again.
