APM 4.0: A Pragmatic Roadmap

The concept of APM 4.0 involves maximizing the use of data to drive proactive actions that are increasingly based on asset condition and operational usage severity, rather than intuition or sub-optimal time-based schedules (monthly, annual etc.) that often lead to unnecessary maintenance (and costs) or insufficient interventions before failure events. Techniques like inferential sensing and combining engineering models with machine learning at the analytical workflow level yields better results more consistently and even requires a lower start-up effort. This presentation is answering questions such as “Where do I start?” and outlines practical approaches in using data and proven reliability engineering methods along with advances in analytics, to manage asset performance more proactively.
