MX809B: Temperature and High-voltage Measurements Made Safe and Simple

The MX809B is an advanced 8‑channel measurement module engineered for maximum safety, precision, and flexibility – even when operating at high electrical potentials up to 1,000 V, with protection against peaks up to 2,500 V. Ideal for demanding environments, the MX809B delivers reliable thermocouple and high-voltage measurements with industry‑leading insulation and safety technology.

Key features

  • 8 isolated measurement channels with Integrated cold junction compensation per channel
  • Supports thermocouple types K, J, T, B, E, N, R, S, C or ±5 V electrical voltages
  • Insulation up to 1000 V (in accordance with EN60664); additional transients up to 2500 V
  • Measurement categories (safety): CAT II 600 V, CAT III 300 V
  • VDE‐certified safety
  • 24‑bit ADC
  • Advanced digital filters: Bessel, Butterworth, linear phase
  • Double‑insulated measuring leads
  • Innovative patented connectors based on standard (IEC, ANSI) thermos mini insulating caps that are safe to touch
  • Portable and suitable for the test benches
  • 1 × Ethernet port with PTP support
  • 2 × FireWire ports
  • Factory calibration data in accordance with DIN/ISO10012 saved on the device

Maximum safety at high potential

Each of the eight channels supports standard thermocouple types (K, J, T, B, E, N, R, S, C), offering highly accurate temperature measurements through integrated cold junctions. Voltage measurements up to ±5 V can also be performed in parallel, enabling detailed thermal and electrical profiling of critical components. With MX809B’s patented contact protection and fully isolated channels, direct contact with hazardous live parts is prevented and maximum safety is ensured. The result is clean, interference‑free data, even in high‑voltage test setups, for very reliable measurements across applications.

Typical applications

MX809B is purpose‑built for high‑voltage environments where safe and reliable thermal or voltage data is essential:

  • Electric motors
  • Inverters and rectifiers
  • Generators and chargers
  • Energy storage systems (HV battery packs)
  • Fuel cells
  • Field and lab testing for electrified systems

Its ability to safely measure very small cell voltages and temperature differences at high potentials makes it a standout choice for battery development and validation.

Flexibility with fast, easy integration

MX809B is very adaptable and can meet varying requirements thanks to the possibility of defining the sensor’s cable length, pre-setup of wiring and extensibility with Dynamic Voltage Amplifier MX403B. As with the entire QuantumX platform, the amplifier seamlessly combines into a larger distributed or centralized system.

Due to its wide range of connection options, Ethernet, FireWire, PROFINET and EtherCAT, you are sure of optimal connectivity and effortless test system integration. When you add in catman® software for data recording and data analysis, you achieve a true plug‑and‑measure setup where data can be immediately visualized, stored or digitally forwarded.

Multiple options in the same family

MX809B can be purchased either stand-alone or as part of a software/hardware bundle:
