Our People
Talented, passionate people are our greatest asset, so it’s our duty to provide a sustainable future for them – and take care of their well-being, growth, and fulfilment too.
To meet our Net Zero targets, we’re making energy efficiency and carbon reduction integral to our operations.
So we pursue our sustainability goals the same way we drive innovation in other areas of our business:
with clarity, precision, and passion.
Clear ambitions and science-based targets keep us on the right track. And we’re already making strong progress.
Our goals are ambitious, but they’re achievable.
First, we’ll cut the waste and the unnecessary emissions from our operations by harnessing renewable energy, electrifying our fleet, improving our energy efficiency, and empowering our people to make greener choices.
By 2030, we’ll have reached Net Zero on Scope 1 and 2 emissions from our operations.
By 2040, we’ll have achieved the same with our value chain by seizing every opportunity to make our products, our logistics, and our partner selection process more environmentally friendly.
Real change comes from pursuing realistic goals. We’re helping bridge the gap between ambition and reality by underpinning our Net Zero targets with concrete, science-based goals.
To achieve Net Zero, by 2030 we’ll need to achieve an 85% absolute reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions, and 74% by 2040 for Scope 3.
We’ve reshaped the way we do business around Net Zero, implementing Net Zero focal points at ten of our major sites.
The volunteers at these focal points are there to push forward change, share crucial information, and provide support to local energy efficiency teams. Working alongside both our Head of Operations and Net Zero Director, they ensure that progress moves rapidly and consistently – and make sure each team gets the support they need, when they need it.
HBK is part of the Spectris Group, which means our Net Zero targets are aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
By building our strategy around these goals, we’re ensuring that our products, operations, and stakeholder engagement are optimifor sustainable and profitable long-term growth.
Talented, passionate people are our greatest asset, so it’s our duty to provide a sustainable future for them – and take care of their well-being, growth, and fulfilment too.
Our sustainability starts with our suppliers, and the network of sub-suppliers that they rely on. We use the Ecovadis rating platform to assess, monitor and help develop this network.
Sustainability means more than limiting emissions. Whether we’re reducing carbon or nurturing the next generation of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) innovators through the Spectris Foundation, we’re always investing in the future.
As we embark on expanding our inclusion efforts, we draw strength from our proud legacy and rich heritage. We believe that this is an integral part of our daily work.
