TB1A Reference Torque Transducer with a Space-saving, Flat Design

The TB1A reference torque transducer is very flat with a maximum width (depending on the measuring range) of 69 millimeters and is, therefore, ideally suited for torque measurements in restricted space. In addition, the drive shafts can lead axially through the torque sensor, thanks to the central bore. Owing to its flat design, the TB1A has a very high stiffness in all directions and is the compact alternative to the extremely precise reference torque transducer TB2.

Key features

  • Little space required due to low profile
  • HBK accuracy class: up to 0.05
  • Extremely insensitive to lateral and axial forces and to bending moments
  • High permissible oscillation amplitude
  • Degree of protection according to EN 60529: up to IP54
  • Nominal (rated) measuring range: 100 N⋅m to 10 kN⋅m

Precision measurements in the smallest spaces

The TB1A is ideal for applications with inline drive shafts, with a highly rigid, flat measuring body that ensures minimal deformation under applied torque. The measuring structure uses advanced strain‑gauge technology to convert torsional strain into a highly accurate electrical signal.

With a HBK‑level accuracy up to 0.05%, high stiffness, and a central bore for axial shaft routing, the TB1A delivers uncompromising precision even under demanding conditions.

Typical applications

TB1A's compact form factor and robust measurement characteristics make it ideal for:

  • Calibration laboratories, as an alternative to the TB2 for setups with extremely limited space
  • Production and end‑of‑line testing, where its space efficiency simplifies integration into automated stations
  • Test benches and R&D environments, with direct coupling to motors, gearboxes, or test actuators

Consistent, repeatable measurements

Its central bore allows the drive shaft to pass directly through the sensor, enabling axial integration without requiring additional mechanical components. The combination of exceptional rotational, transverse, and bending stiffness, provides a stable, reliable measuring environment. With minimal hysteresis, high linearity, and a design optimized for both robustness and precision, the TB1A delivers trusted torque measurement for calibration, industrial testing, and laboratory use.
