In pursuit of innovative solutions for a carbon-neutral future, all industries face the challenge of ensuring reliability in new technologies. Traditional qualification tests, based on extensive production experience, are unavailable for these advancements.
This presentation explores the advantages of combining physical and virtual testing to qualify the fatigue life of components. By verifying and improving simulation accuracy, virtual testing reduces the number of physical prototypes required for qualification while enhancing confidence in reliability targets. With experience, confidence in the simulation models is improved, ultimately leading to 'Qualification by Simulation'.
Using EV battery systems as an example, the integration of virtual and physical tests is shown to minimise warranty risks and support the development of reliable, sustainable technologies.
