Upgrading from Version 11.0.1 and Earlier

Starting in Version 11.1.1, ReliaSoft desktop applications use a new encryption algorithm for improved security. In most cases, the upgrade will automatically update your product to use the new encryption. This document provides instructions for special circumstances that require additional action.

Error Occurred During the Update (ReliaSoft-Hosted Licensing Only)

If you are using ReliaSoft-hosted licensing, the software needs to communicate with ReliaSoft's secure license server to complete the update. If you do not have an active Internet connection, or if you encounter issues with the firewall, you will need to manually reactivate your product(s). For alternative ways to reactivate, see this article.

Running in FIPS Mode (Locally Hosted Licensing Only)

If you are using locally hosted licensing and your organization requires FIPS 140-2 (Federal Information Processing Standard) mode to be enabled on Windows, you will require a new license file (*.lic) and, in some cases prior to Version 2020, a new license settings file (*.prnrsl). Complete this web-based form. We will send you the new files and instructions. (The instructions are also available in this article.)

Unable to Read Connection Files (*.rserp) and Locator Links (*.rsll11)

Enterprise repository connection files and locator links that were created prior to Version 11.1.1 use the old encryption and they cannot be read if you have FIPS 140-2 mode enabled on Windows.

If your organization has implemented the SEP web portal and you have published analysis summaries, you will need to republish to refresh the links that open the original analysis (e.g., "Open in Weibull++"). See Publishing to SEP.
