The K-C6B is our compressive force sensor for small measuring paths and very large forces - ready to be configured in accordance with your needs

Find bellow some explanations to our options.

Capacity

The sensor is available in measurement ranges from 200 kN to 10 MN.

Rated output adjustment

The C6B force sensors have a rated output in the range from 2 mV/V to 2.48 mV/V (N). The sensors can be adjusted to 2 mV/V on request (J). In this case, the output resistance is also adjusted so that you can connect several sensors with the same nominal (rated) force in parallel.

NOTE: If you order the C6B with integrated amplifier, the sensor is adjusted as a measuring chain - no need for a passive adjustment.

Transducer identification

You can order your sensor with a “Transducer Electronic Data Sheet”, TEDS (T). In this case, your sensor is equipped with an electronic memory that is programmed with the technical characteristics of the sensor. If the sensor is connected to an instrument with TEDS 0-wire functionality, for example, HBK's Quantum models or the ClipX modules, the instrument will read out the specific data and the setup process will run automatically.

NOTE: TEDS only for sensors without integrated amplifier module.

Mechanical design

The C6B is delivered without force application as standard (OO). On request you can also order your C6B with the spherical cap ZK (ZK) or the combination consisting of the load button ZL and the thrust piece EPO (ZE).

NOTE: It is not possible to calibrate a C6B with a load button without using the EPO because the high compressive stresses could damage the calibration machine.

Plug protection

The C6B can be ordered with a plug protection. This is a strong square tube mounted around the connector to protect it from mechanical damage (P). Standard is without plug protection (U).

Electrical connection

The standard version is a fixed cable of six meters (K), achieving degree of protection IP68. On request the C6B can be delivered with a 15 m cable (V). Bayonet connectors (B) and threaded connectors (G) are also available for the electrical connection. For the integrated amplifier option, an M12 connector (00A8) mounted directly on the sensor must be selected.

Plug version for the fixed mounted cables

If you order the C6B with a fixed cable, it comes with free ends as standard. On request you can have a plug mounted at the end of the cable, so the force sensor can be connected directly to your amplifier.

  • Y = Free ends, no plug assembly
  • F = D-sub-HD15, for connecting to MGC+ (e.g. AP01) or Scout amplifiers
  • Q = HD-sub-HD15, for connecting to many HBK signal conditioners in the Quantum series (MX410, MX440, MX840, MX430, MX238)
  • N = MS plug, for connecting to HBK signal conditioner, such as MGC+ (AP03), DMP or DK38
  • P = ODU plug, 14-pin, degree of protection IP68, for connecting to all HBK amplifiers of the Somat XR series that are suitable for measuring full bridge circuits
  • M = M12-plug, 8-pin, for connecting to the digiBOX and DSE measuring amplifiers
  • O = No cable

Integrated amplifier

Standard C6B force transducers are passive (mV/V) sensors (N). On request the C6B can be ordered with an integrated amplifier whose output is 0 … 10 V (VA1) or 4 … 20 mA (VA2). If you order your C6B with an integrated amplifier, in this case, the C6B comes along as a calibrated measurement chain.

NOTE: You must select M12 connector for the electrical connection. TEDS is not required, so that you cannot order this option in combination with an integrated amplifier.
