The following steps outline the installation procedure to provide an overview of how to install a weldable strain gauge:

Step 1- Clean the surface

First, clean the surface. Remove bigger impurities with an emery paper to ensure that the surface is purely metallic (which is important for the welding process).

Step 2- Position the strain gauge

Position the strain gauge on the steel surface.

Step 3- Position the pistol of the spot welding device

Position the pistol of the spot welding device on the gauge carrier, and perform the spot welding by pulling the trigger.

Step 4- Attach the strain gauge carrier to the metal surface

Attach the strain gauge carrier to the metal surface with a series of small welding spots, as shown in the welding spots pattern below.
