vertical reference unit (VRU) measures roll, pitch, and yaw and is used for roll damping, compensation, transformation between coordinate systems on a platform and numerous other applications. Vertical Reference Units for High Performance Industrial, Rugged and OEM packaging

Our Vertical Reference System using the MEMs Gyro, inclinometer and accelerometer, measures the tilt with reference to gravity as well as orientation and inclination. Sensors are available based on the different performance levels and packaging, enabling you to select the right sensor for a wide range of applications including construction and agriculture off-highway vehicles, UGV’s and Robotics.

Our high-performance industrial grade VRU inclinometer and tilt sensors can be used in robotics, construction, mining, agriculture and UGV applications that require tilt as well as roll/pitch accuracy and angular velocity. With various application opportunities and use in pre-designed boards, LORD OEM sensors offer the option of a smaller, lighter and affordable solution, allowing for customer preferred packaging and board design.

Industrial Grade Rugged VRU Solutions

This industrial solution MEMs tilt sensor offers options in demanding environment for dynamic inclination and positioning. Ideal for use in Off highway (construction, mining, agriculture) applications, the applications can use auto steer and terrain compensation, stability and leveling, platform control, alignment and stabilization and precision navigation all packaged into a ruggedized package to withstand difficult applications.

Robotics

Because they can be programmed to perform dangerous, dirty and/or repetitive tasks with consistent precision and accuracy, industrial robots are increasingly used in a variety of industries and applications. Using LORD VRU within an industrial robot, allows for real time stability and terrain compensation.

 

UGV’s (Unmanned Ground vehicles)

Navigation subsystems are integral to the performance of unmanned ground vehicles. Conventional, high-performance navigation systems support unmanned solutions but are limited in their application due to their size, weight, power consumption, and cost concerns. LORD VRU's provide unmanned ground vehicles with the information required to reliably navigate unstructured settings in a low-power, cost effective manner.

 

Construction, Mining, Agriculture

Off-highway ground vehicles are exposed to harsh and variable operating conditions. Understanding the exposure of individual vehicles is critical for maximizing up-time and optimizing maintenance practices. LORD dynamic inclination detection, real-time vehicle stability control and terrain compensation provides the vehicle with the information needed.
