An attitude and heading reference system (AHRS) is a device that integrates multi-axes, accelerometers, gyroscopes, and magnetometers to provide estimation of an objects orientation in space. Measurements of pitch, roll, and yaw are typical data outputs. MicroStrain's AHRS inertial sensors are commonly used in robotics and unmanned vehicle navigation.

Attitude and Heading Reference Systems (AHRS)
Our Attitude and Heading Reference System IMU uses a high-performance accelerometer and super stable gyro, as well as pitch-roll static and dynamic accuracy. Depending on which sensor is needed, a GPS option is also available. Sensors are available as an OEM surface mount or via high performance or industrial grade packaging, enabling you to select the right sensor for a wide range of applications.
To ensure reliability and top-notch performance, a sensor that includes an attitude heading reference system as well as a GNSS receiver utilizing the GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou and Galileo satellite constellations, provides the all in one navigation system that is needed in unmanned vehicles, drones and robotics.
In an application that requires a AHRS IMU sensor to work beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) without depending on GPS, a sensor that has a fully calibrated and temperature compensated under all dynamic conditions is required. These sensors support applications such as platform stabilization, vehicle health & usage monitoring, and test & measurement. An OEM option is available.
Robotics
Because they can be programmed to perform dangerous, dirty and/or repetitive tasks with consistent precision and accuracy, industrial robots are increasingly used in a variety of industries and applications. Using Microstrain's AHRS IMU within an industrial robot, allows for real time stability and terrain compensation.
Drone Navigation
Drones are used across various applications including agriculture, surveillance and navigation. Times occur when a drone lacks GPS signals such as under a bridge, inside a cave or in a tunnel. Using Microstrain’s AHRS IMU sensor allows the drone to navigate safely by utilizing dead-reckoning with high precision sensors, or by aiding navigation capability of autopilot or flight control.
Test and Measurement
The need to collect accurate data describing attitude, position, and vibration in GPS and non-GPS environments occurs in many test and measurement applications. System design performance & validation testing using Microstrain’s AHRS IMU and GNSS/AHRS sensors offer reliable and stable performance in high vibration and shock environments.
