RENO 9 Quick Start Guide Chapter 8: Optimization ? Evaluating Shuttle Routes

In the previous chapter, you used RENO's multiple analyses feature to automatically vary a specific value in repeated simulations of the same flowchart in order to find an optimum solution for a particular problem. This chapter demonstrates another way in which RENO flowcharts can be used to explore optimization questions. In this case, you will create separate flowcharts that represent two possible routes for a shuttle service operation, and use the simulation results to determine which option will be the most cost-effective. The solution for this example also demonstrates how you can use the normal distribution to represent a range of possible values for some of the logistic constraints that must be considered in the model.
